Introduction of Rotary kiln:
Rotary kiln is rotary calcining kiln and one of building material equipments. According to dealing with different materials, there are cement kiln, matallurgy chemical kiln and lime kiln.
Rotary kiln is the key equipment of cement clinker in dry-process and wet-process production line. Metallurgy chemical kiln is mainly used in iron ore magnetic calcination, silicon thermal refining magnesium, chromium nickel ore calcination, refractory calcination and active lime and calcined dolomite for steel mill and ferroalloy works.
Working Priciple :
The rotary kiln is a cylindrical vessel, inclined slightly to the horizontal, which is rotated slowly around its axis. The material to be processed is fed into the upper end of the cylinder. As the kiln rotates, the materials gradually move down towards the lower end, and may undergo a certain amount of stirring and mixing. Hot gases pass along the kiln sometimes in the same direction as the process material (co-current), but usually in the opposite direction (counter-current). The hot gases may be generated in an external furnace, or may be generated by a flame inside the kiln. Such a flame is projected from a burner-pipe (or 'firing pipe') which acts like a large burner. The fuel may be gas, oil or pulverized coal.
Rotary kiln Application:
Rotary Kiln is used for making of cement clinker and there are dry and wet methods to make cement. metallurgy chemical kiln is used in metallurgy industry and ironworks for lean iron ore, chromium ore and ferronickel ore calcimine. Rotary kiln is used for calcimine of high aluminum vandal ochre in refractory material industry; for calcimine of calotte and aluminum hydroxide in aluminum manufacturer; for claiming of chrome sand ore and chrome powder ore in chemical plant.
The raw materials are decomposed, sintered and cooled down in the rotary kiln then clinker discharged from low-end into cooling machine. The fuel is sprayed from the kiln head, the combustion is carried out in the kiln to heat the raw material into clinker. The hot air produced in the process of heat exchange with the material enter into the kiln tail system from the kiln feed and finally it is discharged into the atmosphere.
